Yesterday

Yesterday: A Pictorial History of Agriculture in Alberta contains nearly 450 photographs depicting early agricultural life and practices across the Province of Alberta.  In 1976, under the leadership of Mrs. Zella Pimm of Grimshaw, branches were encouraged to assemble an array of photographs into albums.  Dr. Grant MacEwan assisted in making the final photographic choices for the book.

This project continued the AWI legacy of compiling and publishing some of the earliest rural histories of Alberta.  Dr. MacEwan writes in the preface “Here is another valuable contribution to the growing list of books on Western Canadian history and culture.”  Yesterday was a popular gift from sitting Members of Alberta’s Legislative Assembly to their visiting guests.
